My mama says that this was my favorite question as a child..."Mommy, WHY?" Though, as an adult this question remains the basis for curiosity and continued learning, there are times that this question of WHY? beats against the heavens...
This week is one of those times...a little baby, held in my hands a few days before, crushed to death...a new life, still bound to its mother for sustenance is suddenly taken away...
Yet in the midst of my tears, my anger and my sorrows...I know that "our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. (Psalm 115:3) Remembering again the truth that Job knew...the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21)
I am blest to have a position that allows me to parakletos (come alongside, comfort) many during times of joy and sorrow...and there are times that I wish I could shield my heart from the pain of the sorrows, but I know that I would lose the joys of life. I just wish that it didn't hurt so much sometimes...
