The IRONY!

Ok, was going through my boring, unending mail at work today, and found a laugh... Taken from the March 15, 2007 Family Practice News, as follows:

Results of a poll conducted by a coalition including the U.S. Department of Labor and Junior Achievement have found that the top career choice among teen girls is "doctor," edging out the 2004 winner, "businessperson," for the top spot. More than 1,500 girls aged 15-19 years were polled, and roughly 10% listed medicine as their first choice, ahead of the second-place occupation, "teacher," according to a statement from the survey group. A Junior Achievement representative speculated that the steamy Dr. McDreamy and the gang from "Grey's Anatomy" might be responsible for the newfound popularity of doctoring among the MySpace set. Notably, if memory serves, the top choice of teen girls in the 1980 survey was "California highway patrol Motorcycle officer," [ROLL ON, CHIPS!] and the lead career from the 1965 survey was "spunky and alluring yet chaste and wholesome surfer girl."

I love it...spunky and alluring, yet chaste and wholesome surfer girl...HA! Anyway, I guess it shouldn't bother me that girls may be drawn to medicine because of McDreamy, McSteamy, et al...but it does. McStupid, imo.
